Noel, chez moi.

For those who were concerned about me being alone for Christmas this year, i want to tell them that it was quiet but warmed up with friendship and some good wine with opera in the background as we ate our feast. It was what it is every year, a time to be at peace and grateful for what we have.
I am looking forward into the new deal that 2009 will bring in my life.

Oh and welcome to the new comer: iMac! which enabled me this year to talk live with my precious and long distance family in France.

 

Noel s'est passe au calme mais en bonne compagnie. Un diner prepare avec gourmandise, de l'opera en fond sonore, des jolis petits objets qui m'entouraient mais surtout le nouvel outil qui m'a permis de parler en direct avec ma famille si loin: l'iMac!
Que demande le peuple? vraiment.
Que 2009 nous amene encore plus de petits bonheurs! x

Blanche Saison

We finally got the first snow flakes over new york this weekend and as usual, everyone is filled with wonder on the first day and then can't stop grouching about it the very next day. I am one of these people.
That said, let me introduce you to the color of the week:  Muffled White.
I can't recall how many times i have been re-designing my imaginary dream apartment in my head lately, but hanging out on the Design-Sponge website is not helping either with the (harmless) obsession.
I browse endlessly through pages of archives in the  sneak peak section, featuring some of the most inspiring interiors of today's talented designers, artists, illustrators etc...
What i like about it is that they all are homes where everything is carefully studied but also filled with great imperfections, i am showing below the most "put-together" ones but please judge for yourself by clicking here and have fun browsing!
The most striking designs to me in the modern and sleek style is the rebekah of sigfrids design's sneak-peak but also the great interior of illustrator Kat Heyes.
This is on the theme of soothing white, but i am also a huge supporter of colorful homes, walls and accents!

La neige est finalement tombee ce weekend recouvrant la ville d'un silence, puis tres vite secouee a gros coups de deneigeuses et d'automobilistes bien decides a partir en vacances.
Moi je suis restee au chaud a revasser en flanant sur Design-Sponge. Le theme de mon blog cette semaine etant le royaume des neiges, je me suis mise a collecter des images d'interieurs aux accents zen, blanc, creme, parsemes de taches de couleurs. Tous ces interieurs me font doucement rever, et la section sneak peak du website est une vraie caverne d'ali-baba (chaque semaine la maison d'un artiste, designer, ecrivain etc... y est presentee). Allez vous y promener et qui sait vous mettre a rever a votre propre royaume a travers ces univers pleins de charactere. L'un de me prefere est celui de l'illustrateur Kat Heyes.

Reality check

There is a section in the French web-paper Liberation called Diaporama that i highly recommend to all photo lovers/addicts/connoisseurs visiting my page today.
It is composed of photographs taken mostly by journalists but also amateurs who are narrating with  genius current affairs from all around the world. Some of them are beyond photo-journalism, they could as well be fine-art photographs. I am in awe of some of these. They are too often morbidly beautiful and remind us very accurately how privileged we are to have the chance to seek beauty in such misery. But it exists.
For those who try like me to incorporate some sort of visual enjoyment in their daily routine, this is a compelling way to follow the news.

Il m'arrive de vouloir suivre l'actualite d'une autre facon qu'a travers le bavardage televisuel. La section Diaporama sur Liberation.fr est une mine d'or, une collection de photos d'actualite racontant la triste realite de notre monde avec un soin et une recherche esthetique epoustoufflante. Certains diront qu'il est morbide de trouver la beaute dans la misere, mais je suis personnellement convaincue qu'elle existe partout ou l'on choisit de la voir. Un discours de privilegiee? Un autre debat.
Tout ce qui m'interesse moi ici sur cette modeste page, c'est le talent.
